Dawn islands dozing

Dawn islands dozing
In golden haze fade to grey
On August evenings.

Red Valerian
On the crumbling granite wall
Tell me of Summer.

25 August 1967

We fallen angels

Sul’s yellow waters
were stirred by wind and time
As we lingered there.

Up Jacob’s Ladder
Isolated angels climb.
We fallen angels
Look up with sadness, minds and
Feet earthbound, yet holding hands.

In Bath, a long time ago!

Seagulls in ploughed fields

Seagulls in ploughed fields
Rise white in flight, scattering
Rooks wildly cawing.

The pink hyacinth

One single bud of
The pink hyacinth peeped out
On our wedding day.

23rd December 1967

Of life and sweet love

In the cool still night
Dew hangs on the violets
And love on your lips.

On the damp Spring earth
The camelia petals
Lie sweet in mourning.

Time like a blackbird
Sat on a bare branch and sang
Of life and sweet love.
